Van Dijk, who had several chances to score but missed. Said after the game: “I think City are a fantastic team. They’ve won the Premier League four times in a row. They have the quality to punish any team.”

“But I think we were strong defensively and had some good chances. We could have scored more goals.”
“It was a good game. We won and we will move on. We are focused on the next game. That’s the only thing we can do. There’s no point in being complacent now.”
“Of course everyone wants to be 11 points ahead of their opponents. But there are still many opportunities to turn things around. Unfortunately, we have injuries in our team and we have to deal with them.”
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said his team were lucky to leave with a draw against Manchester United. And insists it could have much worse had Harry Maguire converted a last-minute chance.
England defender Maguire was unmarked in the penalty area and picked out by team-mate Joshua Zirkzee. With the ball slightly bobbling up off the turf, he skied his effort over the bar.
